We read in the papers last week that department store Selfridges is already opening their Christmas store – it’s ridiculous! We are still in August, the height of summer, with the sun beating down on us (okay, with the rain falling, this is the UK after all), and it is far too early to think about Christmas!
Or is it?
If you are a small business, sometimes you do need to plan these things in advance. Maybe you want to have festive offers, or increase production so that you can increase sales around the festive period. Either way, you may need to start planning in advance.
And if your plans require finance, then you might need to source this out even further in advance. Sometimes finance can be arranged in as little as a week, but depending on the lender and the type of finance, it may take longer. And there’s little point having the funds available for a Christmas push in January!
