At a cost of over £11bn the ‘legacy’ of the games is going to be under some pressure to pay back the money it borrowed from the economy. For those that were lucky enough to visit the Olympics may not have thought about the cost or the financial implications to the economy because they were so enthralled by the atmosphere.
It’s too early to see how hosting a global event has impacted on businesses and the sporting legacy of the nation, so for now, we will judge the event as a huge success that brought the nation together, despite the cost.
