So once again we find ourselves writing about increased train fares.
Every year prices rise above inflation, and every year the Government just doesn’t seem to understand how these high transport costs are not just hitting individuals’ pockets, but they are also hitting small businesses hard.
When rail costs are so high, it means that transportation costs for small business are higher – it makes it harder to network, to recruit staff, to travel to meetings and effectively grow their business. It makes is more expensive for people to travel to go shopping, and decreases domestic tourism, making it harder for UK B&Bs and hotels to grow their businesses.
If the government really wants to stimulate the UK economy, then looking at such high rail fares might be a good place to start! Doing so would provide a much needed boost to British business.
