Small business confidence grows, but access to finance is still tricky

A recent survery by the FSB (Voice of Small Business Index), showed that confidence amongst UK small businesses has increased, hitting levels which were last reached before June 2016.

Which is obviously good news for small businesses. However, the more worrying statistic is that the availability of credit appears to have declined, demonstrating the disparity between companies which are optimistic and keen to grow, and those who believe that their bank will provide them with finance.

One of the key reasons for this disparity, is that many small businesses don’t know where to go to access finance. There are many options in the marketplace, but they are not always easy to find. In addition, it can be tricky to know how to present an application to lenders to provide the highest chance of being accepted by credit, rather than declined. 

Which is one of the areas where ASC come in.
