Even the best laid plans can go astray

As any small business owner knows, a well-researched and thought out plan is vital to success. From starting out, to raising finance or growing the business, it is important to plan out how you are going to make that next step. As the old saying goes – “failing to plan is planning to fail”.

But sometimes, even the best laid plans go astray. Take the example of Gatwick airport. As part of their efforts to try and promote the airport to Londoners they launched a week long advertising campaign in some central London Underground stations. It was a well thought out and clever campaign which was sure to get noticed…

…Until it was decided that there was going to be a Tube strike. With several lines out of action, and many commuters taking alternative forms of transport or staying at home, the number of people who would see the adverts is considerably less than what it would have been.

As you can see, not everything always goes to plan.
