I read in an article recently that complaints from small businesses against bank loans have risen by 10%. That sounds awful. However, when you read more you find out that the actual numbers have increased from 394 to 435. I am sure that the businesses involved have a good reason to complain. But 435 out of 3.5 million businesses in the UK hardly represent a major problem.
Banks have done a lot of nonsense and indeed continue to do a lot of nonsense. However, if the general public is being fed with such “cry wolf” stories then nothing will be achieved. I think we should all focus on criticising the banks in a constructive way. What do you think?
