I attended an event at the weekend where they gave out thousands of yoghurts. At first I questioned the business sense of giving away their products, but it makes perfect sense. Shoppers get in the habit of repurchasing what they had before because they are scared of the unknown.
Giving your audience testers encourages them to ‘try before they buy’ in the hope that they will be converted, and let’s face it, everyone likes ‘free’.
‘Chobani’ is a name that I am now familiar with which I wouldn’t of been had they not offered me a free product. From Chobani’s generous offer they may have given away a little, but they may see an increase in the amount of new customers in the days, weeks and months after the event.
