British Manufacturing - Let the little guy grow!
You may have read in the press yesterday that optimism amongst British manufacturers has dipped for the first time in over a year. We have previously talked about the strength of British manufacturing, and at first glance it does look like the headlines offer a more pessimistic outlook than previously thought.
However, the important thing to note is that long-term confidence remains high. And, most significantly, the majority of manufacturers are still looking to expand and grow their businesses. The reasons behind the dip have been attributed to a number of short-term challenges which manufacturers are currently facing, such as rising costs, and a shortage of skilled workers to hire.
British manufacturers, from the large organisations to the small independent industrial firms, are still looking to expand - they just need additional support. From access to business finance, to access to skilled employees – and above all the support of consumers up and down the country. You don’t need us to tell you about the importance of having a thriving domestic manufacturing sector, and we hope that British firms within the industry will continue to thrive for many years to come.
