ASC Success Story
Happy customer returns when he encounters a problem with his current bank loan
John Silks business, Juice Light and Sound, rents and operates lighting and sound systems for concerts and events throughout the UK. He owns his business premises in Daventry, Northamptonshire.
6 years ago Ewen Cameron of ASC Warwickshire and Northamptonshire re-financed John out of an onerous loan, which improved his cash flow and allowed him to expand his business.
The company prospered and in 5 years his turnover and profits doubled. His bank also helped him with an increased overdraft facility to see him through the quiet winter periods. However, banks, criteria inevitably change, and new managers come in with different attitudes.
Shortly after he came under pressure from his bank when they refused to increase his overdraft, despite John having had his best-ever trading year. His request for a small increase in his long-term property loan to upgrade the premises was also denied.
John said: "I don't now have all my eggs in one basket but the best news is that the loan was placed with a non-clearing bank lending source that will not be breathing down my neck and making me pay for annual reviews".
A couple of months later, the industrial unit next to his came up to sale. This was fortunate, as John had been considering renting storage space and purchasing the adjoining unit seemed the next logical step for his business.
Ewen arranged to increase the recent loan so John could purchase the new unit. John had equity in his existing premises and therefore he did not have to inject any more cash. A sound result!
