Apple and Nike are two of the world’s best known brands and their products are readily available to purchase online, but rather than accept the trend of people shopping online they have invested in their bricks and mortar by thinking a little differently.
If you’ve ever been to an Apple or Nike store you know that they operate differently to most retail outlets. ‘Customer experience’ is at the heart of their operation. In Apple you can pay for an item just by putting in your iTunes password. There is no queuing because there are no till points (saving space and adding to the transaction speed). To pay to just have to approach one of the many staff that can receive the payment from a hand held gadget.
Retail stores don’t have to be boring! If you have invested in a retail space, then make it interesting. Focus on the experience and you will see customers returning, hopefully with their friends.
